Q Retirement Community

Where can I get a list of Retirement Condos or Communities that accept Gay people. I am not terribly 'Out' and can live among 'straights' as long as they are not known as Anti-Gay. I am open to all areas, preferably on the East Coast. I can afford an upscale arrangement but again everything is open. I am 77 years old, but in current good health. I will need a good medical facility in the area.

HI, Your question touches upon an increasingly important issue in our community. Since there is no urgency to your question, I would suggest your resubmitting it after the National SAGE Conference in October. This is going to be one of the main topics that will be discussed. People are coming from all over the country and from many different organizations, only some of which deal exclusively with lgbt clients. Hopefully, after the conference, SAGE will have an extensive resource guide to answer questions such as yours. I and a number of my colleagues will be raising this issue throughout the conference. Personally, I feel that it is encumbent upon SAGE to develop a national resource guide so we are having a vibrant dialogue on this issue. It will be worth the wait. Harold Kooden
