Q Sexual addiction

I am 69 year old. For the past two years, I am getting more and more obsessed of having as many sexual partners as possible (meeting mostly through internet sites) I practice safe sex, but my behavior is getting more risky recently and I am terrified of contracting HIV if I dont change. I am well aware that my conduct has to do with my fear of aging and death, but this doesnt help me to change. I cannot afford regular psychotherapy, can you tell me if there is/are groups like AAA for this kind of addiction. Thank you for your answer.

Hi, You seem to be quite aware of yourself and are motivated to make some changes. Since I do not know where you live, I have to make a generic suggestion. First of all, contact AA and see what groups they have dealing with sexual addiction. Most big cities have these groups on an ongoing basis. Also check out any lgbt community centers that are close to you as they probably have groups dealing specifically with your concerns. Another alternative is to see if there are any SAGE groups in your area. You can call SAGE in NYC (212 7412247) and see if they can refer you to a group that is in your vicinity. Good Luck, Harold
