Q Depression and suicide

I am curious if you have come across any articles or presentations on depression and suicide in gay and lesbian elderly. I am wondering what some of the differences might be between them and heterosexual elderly.

Since your question is so specific, I suggest you contact one of the social workers at SAGE (212 741 2247) who is more familiar with the research. Maybe there is a SAGE group in your vicinity that could answer that question. If your are internet-savvy, you could try that resource. This is a very important area in which there are statistics that might interest you. Since we are an invisible population, no statistics can be absolutely accurate but there are estimates. Are you interested in a general answer or do you want specifics. Be clear as to what you want when you start asking questions at the SAGE office or your local Department of Aging but do not be surprised if the latter office has no information to you. Hopefully, in the future, all official departments dealing with aging will have this essential information. Harold
