ASK THE EXPERTS ABOUT

Q LGBT aging masters programs
  Dec 14, 2009

I am looking at masters and doctoral gerontology programs in the US. I am curious to know if you are aware of any institution that has LGBT specific aging courses. I am particularly interested in community based programming that extends beyond the typical "marginalized communities" courses that I'm seeing in catalogs. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

A Response from Dr. Kooden

You are asking a very specific questions which I cannot answer directly. I would suggest you email or contact Douglas Kimmel, Ph.D. is one of our lgbt gerontolgy experts and is very familar with academia in the USA. You can also write to Division 44 (The Society for the Study of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Psychology) and/or the Committee on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues of the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C. Speaking of the APA, email Clinton Anderson, Ph.D. who could handle a question like this Have you started doing an internet search which would probably give you the most information though it sounds as if you have already gotten enough catelogues. You now want to talk directly with people in the field. Good luck, Harold
