ASK THE EXPERTS ABOUT
General LGBT Aging Issues

Hello, We are an older gay couple in Levy County, Florida and have been together over 25 years. We do have our Wills and also Living Wills, but we would like to have some protection for things like one another visiting in hospital if needed, etc. Do you know of any forms we can download on the internet for this? Thank you very much

A Response from Dr. Kooden

Hi, I do not know of forms that you can download that are applicable for all states. Since you already have your wills and Living Wills, I suggest that you ask your lawyer about this issue. He may know the peculiarities of your local hospital association and the Florida State laws. As a preliminary step, I would suggest you call the local hospital and ask if they have a patient ombudsman. This would be the perfect person to ask. If they do not have one, then call the administrator's office and ask your question. Another source would be the lgbt community center (or group) in your community or Fort Lauderdale or whatever cities are closest to you. You do have some phone calls to make --good luck and congratulations. Harold
