Q.

Looking for Final Partner

SAGE's activities are super, but I cannot help notice how many men seem to be there merely to see how others are doing. Where in fact most attendees would like to establish a new relationship. Maybe we're not always fresh out of the closet, but when can we stop being unapproachable? Maybe 'cause we don't truly identify with all those other handsome seniors in the room? Ah ...

Response from Dr. Kooden

Hi there, I am not quite sure exactly what you are asking. It is clear that you are commenting on other's behavior and motivations. I am assuming that you are interested in meeting someone and possibly dating. You are very correct in noting that many older men do not find anyone who looks like them as attractive or potential partners. Many attend SAGE functions for the social aspect and not the dating potential. If you find men attractive who look like you, do you make it clear that you are interested? Though most of the men you meet have been out for a long time, that does not mean they know how to date and be sociable with potential dating partners. More often than not, their worst social behavior comes out when they are interested. So just keep letting others know of your interest and keep attending the SAGE functions and be as open and direct as you are in your letter. Good luck, Harold Kooden
