Response from Dr. Kooden

Dear Keith, This is the third question about senior lgbt housing that has come in recently. My advice to others was to resubmit the question after the October SAGE National Conference where this will be an important topic. Hopefully by then, SAGE will have developed a more extensive directory of national housing that is lgbt friendly. Though there is not much now, it is continually expanding. Since you are willing to relocate, I would suggest you start the process now by thinking of which major cities you might want to relocate and then call the local lgbt centers for housing information. You can call SAGE at 212 741-2247 for any additional help. Is there a local lgbt organization or center in Boise that you can access? See if there are listings for people who want to share places if you decide to stay in Boise. If you want to move, start the resourcing now and be sure to contact SAGE after the conference and see what new developments there are for relocating. Best wishes, Harold Kooden
