I have an client who is a lesbian and recently lost her partner of 40 years. Because of the rapid onset of parkinsons she is looking for an assisted living facility or nursing home on the east coast (preferably NY or NJ) that caters to Lesbian and Gay senior. The facility need only be LGBT friendly. Can you help?

Hello, I suggest that you contact the SAGE office (212 741-2247) and talk with a social worker who deals with assisted living issues. Hopefully, after the national SAGE conference in October, we should have a more up-to-date listing on facilities like these. The lists are limited but with more outreach and advocacy work, SAGE should have a wider range of alternatives. And possibly, SAGE will be instrumental in making these places more LGBT friendly.
